Her Lavender Hat

Brrr! It’s turned into winter here. We’re in the midst of getting our second “winter storm” in a week. (I don’t know why a few inches of snow needs to be called a “storm”, but that’s just me.) I got this hat knitted up just in time to keep my ears toasty. It’s my first successfully completed knitting project in a couple of years. I tend to only pick my knitting in the colder months and I also tend to knit very very slowly. Even so, I’m really happy to be able to show off my new hat.

Materials:

  •  Bernat Alpaca Natural Blend Yarn, 1 skein
  • size 8, 16 inch circular knitting needles

Pattern: “Her” version of His + Her Knit Hats by the Purl Bee

Gosh, writing about knitting is a lot harder than writing about sewing. There’s not much to say about the techniques I used or how I altered it to fit me. I guess I can say that I really liked this pattern. It was straight-forward, but it also produces an interesting looking pattern and texture. The yarn is pretty nice too. It’s not a fine and smooth as a higher quality 100 percent alpaca yarn, but it isn’t too scratchy or difficult to knit with. All things considered, this hat is an A-grade project. Stay warm!
