One of the reasons I have started blogging about my own experiences as a sewer is because of all the great information and inspiration that is shared by others on the Internet. I read a slew of sewing blogs and websites and love finding new ideas through them. I want to be able to showcase and share what I’m finding, so I’m going to start a fairly regular feature that will allow this. My plan is to write a short post about some great thing I’ve found and then also include a picture and link on the Sewing Directory page so that they are easy to find later.
The first addition to the Sewing Directory is actually a double feature! The first two items are the Madeleine Mini Bloomers and the Sorbetto Top, both of which are free from Colette Patterns. Adorable, are they not?
The Madeleine Mini Bloomers have been around since February, 2010 and the Sorbetto Top debuted this spring. I’ve made the bloomers and find them just too sweet for words. I don’t have a picture of them to show you though (for modesty’s sake). They are quite low-rise, so if I were to make them again I would add a bit more length in the rise. Overall, they are a cute and comfy addition to my lounging/sleeping wardrobe.
I haven’t made the Sorbetto Top…yet. I’m sure I will get around to it because it would be a perfect basic piece to wear alone or layered with other pieces. I have also seen some variations that I like: lengthened to be a dress, added collars and/or sleeves, etc. If you’ve made either of these and have something to share, be sure to speak up in the comments.
